Strike?
A strike is a common tool that belongs in Western society. It has been used and is used widely in all Western democracies. Misleading information about it being somehow controversial or even forbidden is being spread around in Finland.
Finnish citizens have the right to defend their rights, even with industrial action. Anyone working in the construction industry can join political strikes initiated by a trade union without fear of consequences. Members and more experienced people in the trade association can guide the younger and wilder generation, if there are any uncertainties regarding the matter.
Why are we on strike?
As with many other unions in the Central Organisation of Finnish Trade Unions, the Finnish Construction Trade Union opposes the new unemployment security legislation valid from the beginning of the year. At the same time, builders demand that the preparation of a second similar legislation be terminated.
